That old black magic has me in its spell, that old black magic that you weave so well.
Those icy fingers up and down my spine
That same old witchcraft when your eyes meet mine.
The same old tingle that I feel inside, and then that elevator starts its ride
And down and down I go, round and round I go, like a leaf that's caught in the tide.
I should stay away, but what can I do?
I hear your name and I'm aflame
Aflame with such a burning desire that only your kiss can put out the fire.
For you're the lover I have waited for, the mate that fate had me created for.
And every time your lips meet mine, darling, down and down I go, round and round I go
In a spin, loving the spin I'm in, under that old black magic called love.
Fly me to the moon
Let me sing among those stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby kiss me
Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Kick All Algricultural Subsidies
Kick-AAS
Abolish all agricultural subsidies
Today (Monday, August 18, 2003) with only a few weeks to go before the World Trade Organisation meets in Cancun the Guardian is launching a new website with a single aim:
Help the poorest countries by kicking into oblivion All Agricultural Subsidies
(kickAAS)
Eat the last free lunch in economics. Everyone gains. Abolition would save Western governments over $300 billion a year (equivalent to a cashback of over $200 for everyone) while giving a huge boost to agriculture in developing countries. Poor countries could sell products – like sugar, cereals and skimmed milk – they are much better suited to produce. At the moment they are being undercut even in their own domestic markets by subsidised Western produce. Sometimes trade is better than aid. And it costs nothing.
The present system doesn't even do what it claims to do. According to the OECD less than half of the $300 billion handouts get through even to the most efficient farmers. Even farmers would gain from abolition – by kicking subsidies that have become a dependency habit.
Abolishing agricultural subsidies is one of the very few campaigns that unites right, left and centre. Join us and Kick-AAS
WHAT NEXT? Last week's policy agreement between the US and Europe made some progress but keeps the same level of subsidies only administered in a different way. We need suggestions how to generate a globalized campaign to make politicians in the most subsidy-ridden regions – Europe and the US - sit up and listen. Time is running out. The next round of trade talks in Cancun starts next month. Developing countries, particularly in Africa don't have the political or economiic clout to stand up to the US/EU juggernaut.
They need help now. Please post your support, spread the word and give us suggestions.
Keep it simple – abolish ALL agricultural subsidies: kickAAS
Taking a crash course in the economics of international trade, Coldplay's Chris Martin spent a week in Haiti with Oxfam to promote the Make Trade Fair Campaign.

Freud and Global Information Technology Report
|
In my youth I felt an overpowering need to understand something of the riddles of the world in which we live and perhaps even to contribute something to their solution.
Apart from reading a book about Freud, today i watched a programme on egovernment in the world, its potentials in Vietnam, and a great study case on e government in Singapore..Very interesting indeed.Took quite some notes(while having chocolate cake -multiasking ;P). E-government is an amazing solution for a more just, sufficient and efficient government - it basically save money and time;reduce corruption and bureau. But to establish it needs both strong infrastructure and high skilled human resource and the socalled network readiness.Infact, there are many countries including Vietnam are still at the beginning computerisation process.Singapore started its computerisation in 1980.It took Singapore 20 years to build its today egovernment. How was the process of building e government in other countries? How can other coming late countries shorten this process, let say 5 to 10 years instead of 20 ? Also is it possible and benificial for all to develop international e-government when there is such a big gap in ICT infrustructures in different countries? Those questions stirred up in my mind when i watched the programme. If you have any answer, would love to hear.:) Watching the programme also motivated me to do some search on egovernment and hence found this Global Information Technology Report 2002-2003 -
http://www.weforum.org/site/homepublic.nsf/Content/Global+Competitiveness+Programme%5CGlobal+Information+Technology+Report
The Report uses the Networked Readiness Index (NRI) to measure "the degree of preparation of a nation or community to participate in and benefit from ICT developments".
The NRI is composed of three component indexes which assess: the environment for ICT offered by a given country or community; the readiness of the community's key stakeholders (individuals, businesses and governments); and the usage of ICT among these stakeholders
and here is
Country Score Networked Readiness Index Rank
Finland (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.92 1
USA (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.79 2
Singapore (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.74 3
Sweden (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.58 4
Iceland (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.51 5
Canada (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.44 6
United Kingdom (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.35 7
Denmark (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.33 8
Taiwan (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.31 9
Germany (PDF format; 1 page; 70k) 5.29 10
too sad Vietnam is still in the bottom of the list..which also means theres a lot that need to be done.
Oh im lost in the dicussion threads..ve been away for too long. And in July while councelling at the kid summer camp i challenged myself not to watch TV, newspapers and the news and i did it hahaha! So basically im just back from the moon. =D .Plus, there are not many threads going on, and the ones being active are not much of my interests. But anyway ive talked with some cool Tiggers -the most recent interesting one is Hussein. So end of rambling and in short, nice to be back .

Sir George Etherege. 1635–1691
To a Lady asking him how long he would love her
IT is not, Celia, in our power
To say how long our love will last;
It may be we within this hour
May lose those joys we now do taste;
The Blessèd, that immortal be,
From change in love are only free.
Then since we mortal lovers are,
Ask not how long our love will last;
But while it does, let us take care
Each minute be with pleasure past:
Were it not madness to deny
To live because we're sure to die?

I come from the East, most of you [here] are Westerners. If I look at you superficially, we are different, and if I put my emphasis on that level, we grow more distant. If I look on you as my own kind, as human beings like myself, with one nose, two eyes, and so forth, then automatically that distance is gone. We are the same human flash. I want happiness; you also want happiness. From that mutual recognition, we can build respect and real trust of each other. From that can come cooperation and harmony.
-His Holiness the Dalai Lama
From "The Pocket Dalai Lama," edited by Mary Craig, 2002.
What we think of as our sensitivity is only the higher evolution of terror in a poor dumb beast. We suffer for nothing. Our own death wish is our only real tragedy
Mario Puzo (b. 1920), U.S. novelist. Merlyn, in Fools Die, ch. 55 (1978).

Feeling so blessed that i got to meet this girl.We spent so much time together last month working at the children summer camp. She is so exceptionally special. Its a pity we did not know each other earlier. But now that we have met each other,I know we gotta become best friends.

"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, nor the kindly smile, nor the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone else believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship."
